Raewyn Harrison at the Tokarska Gallery

3 MAKERS – An exhibition of new ceramic art:

Ian Byers, Amanda Doidge and Raewyn Harrison
Exhibition runs 9 May – 1st June 2013
Gallery hours Thursday – Saturday 12pm – 7pm

Talks: Keith Harrison 14 May, Bonnie Kemske 23 May
Tokarska Gallery – 163 Forest Road, London E17 6HE
3 Makers is a celebration of sculptural ceramics displaying a diversity of practice. Ian Byers, Amanda Doidge and Raewyn Harrison handle clay thoughtfully, with wit and skill to provoke, intrigue and seduce. Bringing together both emerging and established artists, this insightful exhibition will demonstrate the scope clay has as a material for artistic expression.

Accompanying the show are two talks, exploring ceramics in a wider context. Keith Harrison, (selected exhibitor at the ‘Jerwood Open 2011’), will be talking about his exciting live performance pieces including his recent clay speakers destroyed by sound! Bonnie Kemske, editor of ‘Ceramic Review’ and ceramic artist, will talk more broadly about new developments in ceramics and its status both as art and craft today.

The Tokarska Gallery has become a pivotal exhibition space for new artists and sits well in its location near the transformed William Morris Gallery. The stimulating 3 Makers exhibition combined with the talks is set to create excitement and debate about ceramics as an art form, echoing the legacy of the ‘Arts and Crafts’ movement within East London. It’s happening here!
